About 18 to 20 firefighters responded to a car fire on Sardis Street on Monday.
Shortly before noon, firefighters were called to 4155 Sardis St. following reports a car was on fire. About 18 to 20 firefighters were sent to the scene for fear the fire was up against a building, assistant fire Chief Bryan Kirk told the NOW.
“It was underneath some trees that were scorched a little bit, but basically it was just the car, the Mercedes, that was completely destroyed by the fire,” Kirk added.
The firefighters used a couple fire hoses to put out the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown, and Kirk said it’s unlikely they’ll ever really know what caused it.
“It could have caught fire for a multitude of reasons, maybe (the owner) was doing some repairs or something. I don’t know,” Kirk said.
The gold coloured Mercedes was destroyed by the fire. No injuries were reported.
“It was just sort of a garden variety type of call,” Kirk said.
