This just in: New B.C. government appointments. Note that Fazil Mihlar, former Fraser Institute director and editor at the Vancouver Sun, has a new post as deputy minister for climate leadership.

Note that Fazil Mihlar, former Fraser Institute director and editor at the Vancouver Sun, has a new post as deputy minister for climate leadership. He was the assistant deputy minister for natural gas development from 2013 to 2015.

Senior public service appointments announced

VICTORIA - New appointments for eight senior members of the BC Public Service have been announced.

Effective March 25, 2016:

* Fazil Mihlar takes on a new role as the Deputy Minister, Climate Leadership, reporting to the minister of environment. Mihlar will provide dedicated leadership to the Province's engagement with the

public, industry, environmental groups and other levels of government, leading to the creation of British Columbia's new Climate Leadership Plan.

* Shannon Baskerville will become the Deputy Minister, Ministry of Jobs, Tourism, Skills Training and Responsible for Labour.

* Clark Roberts will become the Deputy Minister, Ministry of International Trade and Responsible for the Asia Pacific Gateway

* Neil Sweeney, Deputy Minister, Corporate Policy, Office of the Premier, will add responsibility for the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat to his portfolio.

* Jason Fisher takes on a new role as Associate Deputy Minister, Forest Sector, within the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. Fisher will be based in Prince George.

* Okenge Yuma Morisho will become the Associate Deputy Minister, Economic Development and Major Investments, Ministry of Jobs, Tourism, Skills Training and Responsible for Labour.

Effective May 30, 2016:

* Lori Wanamaker will become the Deputy Minister, Ministry of Children and Family Development.

* Mark Sieben will become the Deputy Minister, Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
