Team B.C. proved unstoppable at last week’s Western Canadian netball championships at Burnaby’s Fortius Centre.
The B.C. under-18 side bested its Alberta rival by scores of 48-7, 51-10 and 49-14, while B.C.’s u-21 side swept Alberta 71-14, 63-23 and 73-30. The B.C. elite program, which attracts players from Alpha, Burnaby South, Burnaby Mountain, Burnaby North and Moscrop, is preparing for some important upcoming tournaments. The u-18 team is gearing up for the B.C. Winter Games in Penticton, while players on the u-21 team will be vying for spots on the national roster, in preparation for a qualifying tournament next August in St. Maarten.
The St. Maarten tournament serves as a qualifier for 2017 World Youth Cup, scheduled to be hosted by Botswana.
