Three teens were taken to hospital after a shooting in an Alberta community northeast of Edmonton.

The RCMP say the incident happened just before 1 a.m. Monday, in the city of St. Albert.

Responding officers reported finding a 17-year-old male with apparent gunshot wounds.

They say he was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries, while another pair of teens, aged 16 and 17, were also taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.

The Mounties say it appears the youths were in a car when they got involved in a confrontation with people in another vehicle, which led to the youths being followed and shots later being fired.

Anyone with dashcam footage in the area between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. is being asked to contact police.
