Political experience (i.e. how long have you been in office?): Running for Burnaby school board for the first time.
Why are you running?
I’ve been working with local residents on a daily basis and have always been an active member in the community. I’d like to use my experience and passion for public service to ensure that every child in Burnaby has equal and fair access to education. I believe that consulting people, planning ahead, and looking at things with a broad perspective are important.
Top three issues you want to work on:
- Ensure every student’s needs are met – including students who want to explore industry training, students who want to pursue advanced academic courses, and students with special needs.
- Urge the provincial government to provide proper funding and sufficient support to our public education system
- Extend learning and teaching beyond the classroom – engage students, teachers, staff, parents and community members to meet the educational, recreational and social needs of the neighbourhood.
