A B.C. person subject to a 10-year long-term supervision order has changed their name and been charged with a third count of violating a long-term supervision order.
Jayden Patel remains due to go to trial on allegations she had violated a long-term supervision order.
Patel — who began identifying as female some years ago and was previously listed on court documents as Jatin Patel — appeared in person before Vancouver Provincial Court Judge Patricia Stark Oct. 9. The appearance was for a bail hearing, the details of which are covered by a publication ban.
Patel appeared before Judge Ellen Gordon via video from custody on June 18 facing two counts of violating a long-term supervision order, both related to Nov. 21 incidents.
The first allegation is that the 50-year-old Patel failed to report a relationship or friendship to her parole supervisor.
The second is that she owned, used or possessed a technological device that would allow internet connection without parole supervisor approval.
Patel now faces a third breach charge, which alleges she breached the supervision order by consuming, purchasing or possessing alcohol on June 28.
The Crown is proceeding by indictment in the case.
An earlier bail application was approved on Feb. 21 with Patel ordered to reside at a residential facility approved by Corrections Canada. A second condition was that Patel abide by the long-term supervision order.
