The man accused of hitting an elderly woman with his car and killing her appeared in Vancouver Provincial Court Nov. 26.
Juan Sebastian Gutierrez Toledo is charged with dangerous driving and driving causing death in the incident that claimed the life of Yin Yong Liu.
The charges, sworn Sept. 23, allege Gutierrez Toledo drove in a manner dangerous to the public and caused the woman’s death.
The second charge alleges Gutierrez Toledo knew or was reckless as to whether the incident resulted in her death and that he failed to remain at the scene.
The case was set for arraignment, the entering of pleas, before Judge James Sutherland.
It was put over for several days for lawyers to set future appearance dates, according to the court's online database.
