This weekend Ridge Meadows RCMP had to be quick.

That's because they caught a driver breaking the speed limit. By a lot.

They clocked the car doing 207 km/h along the 28700 block of the Lougheed Highway, according to a social media post by the RCMP.

The car in question wasn't a supercar, either, but a Hyundai Genesis. The top Genesis models have an official top speed of 240 km/h when new.

The speed limit for that section is 80 km/h, meaning the car was going more than double the speed limit of the highway.

"What do you get when you're travelling 127 km/h over the posted speed limit? You get a time-out from your car and license for 7 days and a hefty fine," police wrote.

Along with the week without a car or license the driver got a $483 fine (the maximum allowed) and three points on their license.
