As soon as Seth Rogen’s cannabis company could sell products in the United States, his website immediately crashed from so many interested consumers.
On Monday morning, the beloved Vancouver actor and Pineapple Express star posted a video to his Twitter account announcing his cannabis company Houseplant will be selling cannabis in the US for the first time.
“If you know anything about me at all, I’m going to assume it’s that I really love weed,” Rogen said at the beginning of the video. “I have been working on my own weed company for the last 10 years. We are finally ready to launch in America.”
“What we’re doing is bringing you the best strains of weed that have been handpicked, by that I mean hand smoked, by me. It’s just the weed that I love that I want to be smoking.”
He goes on to say the cannabis will come in coloured, stackable tins: orange for Sativa and purple for Indica. The Houseplant company will also be selling cannabis-related house goods including a table lighter with a lid that also functions as an ashtray.Almost ten years I go, I envisioned having my own weed company. And today I can say that my company Houseplant's weed will be available in California next week! Also, Houseplant is making lovely Housegoods like ashtrays, lighters, and YES, even ceramics. https://t.co/TNjpWFhbWB pic.twitter.com/00xR8QKNH3

“This is just the beginning, this is honestly my life’s work and I have never been more excited about anything,” Rogen said.
For now, Rogen’s cannabis is only available in California, even still the response was too overwhelming for Houseplant’s website. Just three hours after Rogen posted his announcement video, a screenshot was shared to the Twitter thread showing a Houseplant’s downed site.
“We had about a billion times more traffic then expected,” Rogen wrote in response to the photo.
Haha we had about a billion times more traffic then expected.

Rogen shared that each strain is labelled as a different weather system, much like how the different strains in Pineapple Express were named. Each strain also comes with a vinyl record with a different mix of songs.
Houseplant cannabis has been available in Canada since 2019, and now the Rogen-approved bud is sold by many cannabis retailers across B.C.
