The UNBC men’s basketball team has signed Vancouver product Chris Ainsley to the Timberwolves.

Standing six-foot-six, Ainsley played his high school basketball at St. Thomas More Collegiate in Burnaby. His big frame would suggest he is most comfortable playing with his back to the hoop in a traditional post-player style, but Ainsley has the ability to handle the ball and shoot from beyond the arc.

The 17-year-old visited UNBC’s Prince George campus in March, where he was able to tour the facilities, train with the TWolves, and learn from UNBC head coach Todd Jordan. The Fraser North First Team All-Star and BC High School All-Star took full advantage of the opportunity, and points to the visit as a major factor in his decision to join the Timberwolves at the highest level of university basketball in the country.

Ainsley will graduate from STMC in June and enroll in UNBC’s Bachelor of Arts program. He will join his new teammates for training camp in August.
