Several more employees at four Loblaw-owned retail stores in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of retailers Shoppers Drug Mart, Real Canadian Superstore, and Your Independent Grocery, provided updates to its COVID-19 employee case listings on Feb. 10:

  • Davie Street Your Independent Grocer, 1255 Davie St., Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on Feb. 6.
  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 4303 E Hastings St, Burnaby: The last day the team member worked was on Feb. 5.
  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 18677 Fraser Hwy, Surrey: The last day the team member worked was on Feb. 7.
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 2855 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford: The last day the team members worked was on Jan. 27 and Feb. 7

None of the locations are listed as potential COVID-19 public exposure sites by Fraser Health or Vancouver Coastal Health.

Loblaw says they share updates about test-positive COVID cases in their stores in order to maintain transparency.

"In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores," notes the company.

When there are employee virus cases, Loblaw notes: “Generally, the risk to our customers remains low, due to the physical distancing and sanitization measures that have been in place in our stores for months."

Loblaw-owned T & T Supermarket posts employee case updates on its website, however, the company has not had a case to report in British Columbia in the last two weeks.

Sobeys Inc, which operates stores like Safeway and Thrifty Foods, updated its B.C. coronavirus employee case tracker this week to include cases in stores in Vancouver, Burnaby, and South Delta (Tsawwassen).
