Employees from several Loblaw-owned grocery and drug stores across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have been confirmed as having coronavirus (COVID-19), according to the retailer's latest update.
The new cases affect Real Canadian Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart store workers in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, and cities throughout the Fraser Valley.
In some instances, the new store cases reflect additional cases to those previously reported.
On May 1, 2, and 3, Loblaw Companies Ltd updated its COVID-19 employee case tracker to indicate the following affected stores in B.C.:
- Shoppers Drug Mart, 2748 East Hastings Street, Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on April 27.
- Shoppers Drug Mart, 7820 Williams Road, Richmond: The last day the team member worked was on April 20.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 7550 King George Boulevard, Surrey: No number of infected team members available; Loblaw reports "multiple" cases among staff.
- Shoppers Drug Mart, 2871 Livingstone Ave, Abbotsford: The last day the team member worked was on April 28.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 2855 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford: The last day either of the two infected team members worked was on April 24 and 26.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 32136 Lougheed Highway, Mission: The last day either of the two infected team members worked was on April 23 and 29.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 45779 Luckakuck Way, Chilliwack: The last day any of the five infected team members worked was on April 19, 25, 26 and 27.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 19851 Willowbrook Drive, Langley: The last day the team member worked was on April 28.
None of the above-listed locations is considered a COVID-19 public exposure site by Vancouver Coastal Health or Fraser Health, and none have been listed as workplace closures in the health authorities.
While T&T Supermarket is owned by Loblaw, the Canadian Asian grocery chain lists its COVID-19 cases separately on its own site, but there have been no new cases in the last few days to report.
Sobeys, Inc., which is the parent company of B.C. grocery chains Safeway, Thrifty Foods, and FreshCo, has not reported any new cases so far in May.
