From "shot girl summer" to "vaxxed girl summer" and beyond, you might be confused, curious or excited about the scope of new hashtags cropping up in support of vaccination programs worldwide. 

Earlier this week, B.C.'s top doctor implored British Columbians to celebrate getting vaccinated by sharing vaccine selfies on social media. 

"You know it's available to all of us now so celebrate it, you know, put those selfies up so that your family, your friends, everybody knows that you've taken that pledge," she said. 

Since every adult in B.C. is now eligible to be vaccinated, Dr. Bonnie Henry noted that now is the time to "support each other" in an effort to raise the rate of immunization in the province. 

Health officials are also looking at ways to reach out to community groups to encourage people to get vaccinated against coronavirus through direct information and the "This Is Our Shot" campaign. 

Now, people around the world are finding creative ways to express their joy after receiving a vaccine. While many people simply share a short note that explains where they are in the vaccination process, others have added a seflie with a hashtag or two. 

In Metro Vancouver, several people have started to use the #shotgirlsummer or #vaxxedgirlsummer hashtags that are a nod to rapper Megan Thee Stallion's hit 2019 song "Hot Girl Summer" featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign.

"Finally got the email to book my vaccine."

British Columbians are expressing their joy about getting vaccinated in numerous ways, however. Many people are simply noting that it has been a long time since they felt that relieved or happy.

Anyone who is 18 years of age or older is now eligible to book a vaccine in B.C. 

Health Minister Adrian Dix adds, "The more people who get vaccinated, the safer we all are."
