A B.C. woman facing charges in connection with dangerous driving causing injuries to two people as well as fleeing police is looking for a new lawyer after her current one withdrew from the case March 20.
And, as defence lawyer Kristy Neurauter withdrew as counsel for Shalyee Marie Perreault, Crown prosecutor Mark Myhre told Vancouver Provincial Court Judge Katherine Denhoff that the case was getting old.
Perreault, 23, is facing eight charges connected to Nov. 8, 2023 incidents:
• failing to stop while being pursued by police;
• criminal negligence causing bodily harm causing injury to a woman;
• dangerous driving causing bodily harm causing injury to that woman;
• failing to stop to give their name and address or offer assistance to an inured person;
• criminal negligence causing bodily harm to a second woman;
• dangerous driving causing bodily harm causing injury to the second woman;
• failing to stop to give their name and address or offer assistance to an injured person; and,
• misleading police in reporting a theft that had not occurred.
The charges were sworn Sept. 26, 2024 and Perreault was granted bail Oct. 1, 2024 with a conditions, including that she not be found in the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle.
Crown prosecutor Mark Myhre said he and Neurauter had been involved in discussions to resolve the case but gave no details.
The case returns to court April 9.
