Police arrived after witnesses called about the suspicious activity and were waiting for the man when he came out.

A man has been arrested after he walked out of a Gucci store and into the hands of waiting Vancouver police officers.

On Sunday morning, Jan. 16, a witness spotted a man acting suspicious around the Gucci shop located at Thurlow and Alberni streets. The witness called police and nearby officers headed over to the scene around 7 a.m.

“Police were patrolling close by and arrived on scene just as the suspect pried back a piece of plywood from a previous break-in,” says Sgt. Steve Addison in a press release.

Addison notes the designer retailer's Vancouver store has been targeted for break-ins multiple times recently.

Police watched as the man entered the store and came back out with stolen merchandise, according to the press release.

"He was arrested by officers who had surrounded the building," says Addison.

The suspect, Taylor Marchuk, has been charged with break-and-enter and possession of a break-in instrument.
