Each week more than 28,000 people access the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, located in Burnaby, and a quarter of these people are children and young people.
Throughout the pandemic, these food banks are under even more pressure than usual to have items of food for those in need.
So, local police need your help. Join Burnaby RCMP and partners at Metro Vancouver Transit Police on Feb. 5 as they Cram the Cruiser.
“We’re looking for food donations (please see the most needed items below) to fill our police cars to the brim,” said a news release.
All donations will then be brought straight to our local food bank to help support people in our community over the holiday season.
They’ll be at the Safeway at 4440 Hastings St. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5.
The most needed items right now by the Greater Vancouver Food Bank are below:
- Low sodium canned salmon
- Canned beans
- Canned vegetable and fruits
- Canned chilli
- Baby products (formula, baby food, diapers)
In addition to these items, the food bank is also always looking for the following:
- Natural peanut butter
- Whole wheat pasta
- Couscous
- Brown rice
- Barley
- Oats
- Canned chicken
- Canned turkey
