When it comes to Christmas, everyone knows that Santa's elves spend the entire year preparing - and a group of "elves" at Burnaby North Secondary are following their lead and getting started early.
With the holiday season still three months off, Burnaby North's Christmas Cheer Club is already gearing up to reach their annual goal of raising $10,000 for the Burnaby Christmas Bureau.
Student organizer Bevin Ng sent the NOW details of an event this weekend that they are hoping will put a big dent in that goal.
The Ford Drive One 4UR School event allows people to test drive Ford cars, with $20 being donated to the school's fundraising campaign in their name for each test drive. New model Fords, such as Mustangs, will be available for test drives; drivers must be at least 18 years old and have an 'N' or class 5 driver's license.
The event takes place this Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the school at 751 Hammerskjold Dr.
The student organization has been a significant contributor to the bureau's annual campaign - in the last 10 years, they've raised more than $200,000 through a number of fundraisers and activities.
