The third annual Edmonds Festival of Lights takes place this Saturday at the Edmonds Community Centre.

The Edmonds Santa Claus parade was cancelled, according to Coun. Paul McDonell, and replaced with the festival.

"It was cancelled for a couple of reasons - it was hard getting entries, and the weather, (combined with getting) volunteers," he said. "We went to a Festival of Lights, and this will be the third year for that."

A variety of indoor and outdoor activities are planned for between 2 and 4: 30 p.m., including lantern making, music, face painting, cookie decorating, crafts, caroling, bingo, and a visit from Santa Claus.

Hot chocolate and hotdogs will be available, and the tree lighting is scheduled to take place at 4: 30 p.m. The Rotary Coats for Kids campaign will also be accepting coats at the event. The centre is at 7282 Kingsway.
