Byrne Creek Secondary hosted a gardening fair on May 4 to encourage people to grow their own food.
Burnaby Food First, a grassroots group of people focused on food security, partnered with the school to organize the event to promote local food gardening.
"Food security is a big issue throughout the world and our community, especially with rising prices of healthy food," said Byrne Creek's Laida Falsetto in an email to the NOW.
The event also coincided with Burnaby Youth Week, and teens were onsite handing out potted herbs.
