Burnaby residents know no bounds when it comes to decorating their homes for Christmas. Here are some of the best and brightest front-yard displays in town for the holidays.

Burnaby residents know no bounds when it comes to decorating their homes for Christmas. Here are some of the best and brightest front-yard displays in town for the holidays. You can find the DuPlessis family Christmas display at 8222 Burnlake Dr., not far from Burnaby Lake. This year’s display is brighter than ever. The Duplessis spent three weeks to planning, researching and executing the display, which is computer controlled. Highlights include a tree with a new star, Charlie Brown characters and a mini ice-rink, a 14-foot Santa, reindeer and more. The display is on every day, from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m. until Jan. 4. The DuPlessis are collecting donations for the B.C. Children’s Hospital.

The Sherwood family home is awash in a sea of lights until Jan. 3, from 5 to 11 p.m. nightly. Their house is at 5951 Baffin Pl. in the Deer Lake area. Tina and Herb Sherwood collect donations for the Alzheimer's Society of B.C. in memory of Tina’s mom who passed away on Nov. 1. Just look for the donation box by the Grinch. Last year, the couple raised approximately $300 for the society.

The Dube family home at 4990 Belleville Ave. is all lit up for Christmas, from 4:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. every day until mid-January. They’ve already held a one-day fundraiser that brought in more than $900 for Variety – the Children’s Charity, but the family is still accepting donations. They Dubes love meeting visitors and have been known to walk them through the display and hand out candy canes.

Phil Mattia’s whimsical display features wreaths, trumpeting angels and reindeer. His home is at 4187 William St. in Burnaby’s Heights neighbourhood. There are an estimated 100 strands of lights on from 4 p.m. till midnight daily until Jan. 7. The display took 10 days to assemble and features a nativity scene is a nativity scene.
