More than six in ten (66%) British Columbians missed celebrating milestones such as birthdays and anniversaries due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to OpenTable, the world's leading provider of online restaurant reservations, over a quarter (27%) of British Columbians are planning to make up for lost time with a celebration do-over.
In order to help British Columbians capture precious moments of bonding and celebrate special milestones with loved ones, OpenTable has announced the 100 Best Restaurants in Canada for Do-Overs to help diners navigate the highest rated hot spots for great dining and memorable nights.
And two Burnaby restaurants – owned by the same company – were named to the list.
The Earls locations at Station Square and next to Bridge studios are recommended for that do-over event.
An OpenTable survey reveals that 45% of missed celebrations were birthday dinners and 7% were missed anniversary celebrations. After this prolonged period of restrictions, 35% of British Columbians are looking forward to dressing up for a big night out and 31% intend to eat out more frequently than before the pandemic with 52% stating that they are seeking a change of scenery.
OpenTable's list is generated solely from diner reviews collected between June 1, 2020 and May 31, 2021. All restaurants with a minimum "overall" score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. The overall score is made up of unique data points, such as overall diner rating, user clout, total number of reviews and regional overall rating. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the sum of tags for which “hot spot” was selected as a special feature.
