Whether you’re more of a donkey, an ogre or a princess, there may be a place for you in Align Entertainment’s production of Shrek the Musical.
The company is now holding auditions for the show, which will run in February 2020 at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby.
Set in a mythical “once upon a time” landscape, Shrek the Musical – like the animated movies – chronicles the life of a hulking green ogre who finds an unexpected path out of his isolated life in the swamp.
“One of the best life lessons that comes out of Shrek is how important it is to be yourself – captured in everybody’s favourite song from the show, Let Your Freak Flag Fly,” said Chad Matchette, director and co-producer, in a press release.
Matchette said anyone interested in auditioning is encouraged to come out, as those who aren’t cast as characters may still find opportunities in the ensemble – for both adults and children.
“We are always thrilled with who comes out for these auditions and don’t put any restrictions on them, so as a result, the range of talent and different backgrounds is incredibly diverse,” he said.
Rehearsals will start this November.
Anyone interested in auditioning should schedule a time as soon as possible, since there are only a few openings and auditions only run until June 12.
