Three Burnaby teens are among those strutting their stuff in this summer’s Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance! musical theatre program in Vancouver.
Students will take to the stage on Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26 at the Rothstein Theatre at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver in Bach to the Future, a production featuring an original script by Perry Ehrlich and more than 30 songs from Broadway and movie musicals.
Burnaby performers Emma Busse, Ilyssa Calinisan and Ava Gil are among this year’s 63 participants.
They’ve been learning all aspects of musical theatre under a faculty that includes an array of professionals from the Vancouver theatre scene, including musical directors Wendy Bross Stuart and Diane Speirs, director Chris McGregor, choreographers Jason Franco, Nicko Giannakos, Keri Minty and Meghan Anderssen, acting coach Advah Soudack and set construction and costume co-ordinators Heather Barr and Mariana Munoz.
Bach to the Future is onstage July 25 at 7:30 p.m. and July 26 at 1 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the front desk at the Jewish Community Centre, 950 West 41st Ave., or by calling 604-257-5111.
