Join a summer street party hosted by Burnaby Neighbourhood House on Thursday, Aug. 11.
With a portion of Beresford Street closed to traffic, you can stroll along and grab a hot dog, chips and beverage for $3, then munch on cotton candy for $1.
The event will have games, activities like hand-painting (a COVID-safe version of face-painting) and crafts, community booths, as well as live performances.
Mayor Mike Hurley and Coun. Joe Keithley will perform a musical set and the Vancouver Circus School will have stilt-walkers walk among the guests.
While you’re at it, Burnaby Neighbourhood House is holding a 50/50 raffle (one ticket for $10 and three for $25), with funds going towards the non-profit’s programs and services. Participants must be 19 years old and up.
Ticket sales end at 4 p.m. on Aug. 11 – the draw will take place at the street party at 4:30 p.m.
Burnaby Neighbourhood House is a local non-profit that offers a variety of programs for all ages, including preschool, kids’ summer programs and newcomers’ settlement services.
