Jokers Canada is on a roll.
After its sold-out show in Port Moody last month, the company is returning to the Inlet Theatre with a follow-up act on Sunday, Nov. 12.
Jokers Canada founder Aaron Arya told the Tri-City News today, Oct. 17, that the second production will have different comedians from the Sept. 29 performance.
For that gig, which Arya described as one of Jokers Canada’s best to date, the performers were Arya, Ivan Decker, Patrick Maliha, Yumi Nagashima and Cass Furman; the names of the comedians for each show aren’t typically revealed until closer to the event.
"Port Moody was incredible," Arya said.
"It was one of the best crowds that I've ever performed to and one of the best venues we've been in. We felt very fortunate."
For its next Port Moody Comedy Classic, Arya promises the same calibre of talent as in September with comedians whose credits include Just For Laughs, CBC and Canada's Got Talent.
Started during the pandemic in 2021, Jokers Canada hosts stand-up comedy nights in smaller venues around Metro Vancouver.
This month, the company has partnered with Explore Burnaby to put on three comedy shows as part of the tourism agency’s Burnaby 2023 Halloween Festival:
- Oct. 18 at The Rec Room Brentwood (sold out)
- Oct. 22 at The Rec Room Brentwood
- Oct. 24 at Grand Villa Burnaby
And next month, besides its Port Moody date, Jokers Canada returns to Olympic Village and, for the first time, heads to North Vancouver for a Comedy Classic event.
Arya is already eyeing January for a third Port Moody presentation.
“We’ve had such good feedback from Port Moody,” he said.
“Ideally, we hope to get some frequency and continue to grow outside of Vancouver.”
