Interested in exploring your Japanese heritage or in finding out more about the culture?

The Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre in Burnaby is holding a food fair and Hina Matsuri (Doll Festival) event on Feb. 17 and 18.

Visitors can drop in between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. both days to check out hundreds of gently used books, CDs and DVDs, shop in the bargain corner and enjoy kids’ activities including crafts and a bouncy castle.

You can enjoy a variety of Japanese food, including waffles, ramen, chirashizushi and more. And, of course, you can take a photo with the hina dolls (for the uninitiated, the hina are dolls representing the emperor, empress, attendants and musicians in traditional court dress).

Check out centre.nikkeiplace.org for more, or stop in to the Nikkei Centre at 6688 Southoaks Cres.
