SPOTLIGHT ON ... Kaitlin Cheung
Remember Kaitlin Cheung?
The young Burnaby performer has been featured in these pages a number of times for various performance awards and roles on screen. In fact, she was eight years old when I first interviewed her – just as she was getting set to jet off to the Young Artist Awards in L.A.
Well, the teen – who’s now in Grade 10 at Burnaby Mountain Secondary School – is continuing to perform, and her star is very definitely on the rise.
On the dance front, Kaitlin was recently selected by the Surrey Festival of Dance as the representative for intermediate modern dance at the provincial finals in May. She was also accepted into two prestigious summer dance intensive programs in the U.S. – Joffrey Ballet and Alonzo King LINES Ballet in San Francisco – and has decided to take part in a four-week training program with Alonzo King.
She was also nominated for the 2018 Young Entertainer Awards in L.A. for her recurring role as Olivia in the Disney series MECH X-4 – and, for all her successes, found herself featured on the cover of the digital magazine SapphirEmerald.
Kudos, Kaitlin – we look forward to seeing where your career takes you.
