Spud, a local online grocer that touts its sustainability, is hiring for over 80 positions in Burnaby as the company grows.
The 80 positions include in the Burnaby warehouse: entry level roles in packing, produce, cleaning, receiving and inventory control.
No experience is required, said the company, as Spud will conduct all training and there are development opportunities. Warehouse positions include a variety of shifts and roles. For delivery: delivering customer groceries around the lower mainland. Class 5 license required only. Variety of shifts available. Spud is also hiring a variety of other office roles including remote.

Canada’s first “fresh food delivery platform facility” – known as Food-X – opened in South Burnaby in 2018 by Spud.
The 74,000-square-foot mega-warehouse is located south of Marine Way.
The facility “utilizes proprietary technology to provide sustainable home food delivery for local and national grocery retailers,” said a news release.
The technology includes the “rapid pack algorithm” that decreases packing time along with wasted space in packed orders, picking software that uses AI to deliver instructions to warehouse packers, and proprietary delivery route optimization software that utilizes real-time data with an end goal of lowering retailers’ overall carbon footprint.
SPUD and food service company Simply Foods also started the Fuel Up school lunch program in 2019.
The goal is to ensure no child goes hungry and that they can access healthy food.
The program prepares over 700 fresh lunches daily for elementary and middle school students throughout Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
"We worked with a nutritionist at the beginning of this program to ensure all the lunches are well-rounded, they're healthy, and they're food kids actually want to eat," explains Simply Foods operations manager Sandra Lee.
