The COVID-19 has changed how many people view some jobs.
More restaurants and retail stores are reporting a shortage of available workers as many people demand more from their jobs.
To attract some of these workers, a fashion company that operates in Burnaby at Metropolis at Metrotown is now promising “best-in-class perks” and pay well above minimum wage in order to lure people to work during the “peak” season.
Aritzia says it has more than 400 seasonal distribution centre positions open for the peak sales period ahead (Sept. 27 to Dec. 31).
“Aritzia is offering a highly competitive wages and best-in-class perks packages for our distribution centre positions,” the company said in a news release.
The starting wage is $21 an hour at the centre, which is located in New Westminster. Duties range from stocking, receiving, sorting, stacking or transporting to picking, packing and sending products to boutiques and clients.
Aside from the pay, Aritzia says it’s offering performance-based bonuses. As for the “perks”, the company says this includes complimentary beverage service, complimentary catered meals provide at work, an in-house gym, discounts on products, plus bike storage and shower facilities.
It’s anyone’s guess if these incentives are enough to get people to apply.
