Fraser Health updated its school exposures site and it shows a lot of school families receiving COVID-19 notices about cases in the past week.
Burnaby North Secondary School – the city’s biggest school with about 1,600 students – saw families receiving their 10th exposure notice about a case on Nov. 20.
There is sometimes a significant lag time between the exposure and when it’s identified and then families receiving notifications. BNSS has received more notices than any other Burnaby school.
These are the other schools in which families have received exposure notifications:
- Burnaby Central: Nov. 20
- Byrne Creek: Nov. 20, 26-27
- Gilpin: Nov. 20
- Outlook Secondary Program: Nov. 26
- Marlborough: Nov. 23
- Sperling: Nov. 24
- Westridge: Nov. 25, 26, 27
- Parkcrest: Nov. 13
- Brentwood: Nov. 13
- Moscrop: Nov. 12-13
- Aubrey: Nov. 12-13
“A notification does not mean your child has been exposed to COVID-19,” says Fraser Health. “If you do not receive a phone call or letter from Public Health, your child should continue to attend school. You can monitor your child for COVID-19 symptoms daily using the BC COVID-19 Health Assessment Tool.”
