With B.C.'s provincial election quickly approaching, the finalized list of candidates has been released by Elections BC.
Candidate nominations officially closed on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m. which required those seeking office to meet Elections BC's requirements to appear on the ballot.
Burnaby's five ridings will see 16 candidates running between Burnaby Centre, Burnaby East, Burnaby North, Burnaby South-Metrotown and Burnaby-New Westminster.
Candidates are as follows (listed in alphabetical order by surname):

- Dharam Kajal - Conservative Party of BC
- Anne Kang - BC NDP (incumbent)
Burnaby East
- Reah Arora - BC NDP
- Simon Chandler - Conservative Party of BC
- Tara Shushtarian - BC Green Party
Burnaby North
- Martin Kendell - Independent
- Janet Routledge - BC NDP (incumbent)
- Michael Wu - Conservative Party of BC
Burnaby South-Metrotown

Where to vote?
Elections BC has information about when and where British Columbians can vote in the Oct. 19 election. It’s recommending that community members get ready to vote by registering or updating their information.
In the lead-up to the election, Elections BC sent out Where to Vote cards that are designed to help make voting faster and easier.
In addition to in-person voting, British Columbians can also vote by mail.
Elections BC must receive these completed vote-by-mail packages no later than 8 p.m. (Pacific time) on Saturday, Oct. 19, as packages arriving after that time cannot be counted.
