Upgrades to the Brentwood Town Centre SkyTrain station are at last complete.
The $32-million project, with funding from the federal government and TransLink, began in 2022.
The upgrades include:
- a new street-level elevator and two new escalators
- an expanded mezzanine for more space
- increased number of fare gates from three to six
- two enhanced stairwells with enclosed glass for weather protection
- improved lighting
New maps and transit information panels are also in place.
Kevin Quinn, CEO of TransLink, said the upgrades will enhance accessibility, safety and comfort for customers.
"These improvements will ensure we continue providing efficient and reliable transit services as the Brentwood community grows," he said in a news release.
Terry Beech, MP for Burnaby North-Seymour, said reliable transit is essential for building connected communities.
"By making smart investments in sustainable transportation, we’re ensuring that public transit continues to meet the needs of our growing community."
Brentwood Town Centre station saw more than 2.2 million boardings in 2024 and is the third busiest Millennium Line station, according to TransLink.
It serves about 23,000 residents and 15,000 workers within a 10-minute walk.
