A 33-year-old man is scheduled to be back in court this month in relation to a fire at a Burnaby mall loading dock last year.

Romualdo Nick Enzo Ferrari was charged with arson in May in connection to a blaze outside the Metrotown mall Hudson’s Bay store on Feb. 21, 2023, according the Vancouver provincial court registry.

Burnaby RCMP was called to the scene by the Burnaby Fire Department, according to a news release this week.

Police said part of the loading bay and a commercial trailer were damaged in the fire.

Burnaby RCMP obtained surveillance video and identified a suspect, leading to the charges against Ferrari, according to the release.

Ferrari is currently out on $1,000 bail and is banned from attending any Hudson’s Bay or Real Canadian Superstore.

He is also banned from possessing any incendiary device including lighters, matches, accelerants and fireworks, according to the court registry.

Ferrari’s next court date is scheduled for Aug. 12.
