ANTONIA'S FAMILY FAMOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Antonia's chocolate chip cookies are family famous amongst all sisters (I have three and then two sisters-in-law), their husbands and their children. In fact, now that many of my nieces and nephews are adults, they have come to expect their own bag of cookies each Christmas.

I have seen these expected gifted bags of cookies get hidden within households so that children cannot eat them.

I have also heard of a text that one of my brothers-in-law sent to his wife that said "I love you more than Aunty Antonia's chocolate chip cookies."

The other tradition in our household is that we (my young daughter and myself) make a batch of these cookies on Christmas Eve and leave a plate out for Santa with milk and then carrots for the reindeer.

The plate is always empty by Christmas morning, with only crumbs as evidence that Santa has visited.

INGREDIENTS

2 1/4 cups of all purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp of salt

2 eggs 1 cup of real butter (it has to be real butter)

1 cup of sugar

1/2 cup of brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups of chocolate chips

1 cup of chopped walnuts

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix together flour, baking soda and salt

In another bowl mix together butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix together

Add in chocolate chips and walnuts

Spoon on to greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven of 375 for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove and place on cookie rack to cool. Makes about 3 dozen cookies depending on size.

Recipe can easily be doubled to make more cookies.
