B.C. is now in phase three of its restart plan and Burnaby is a success as to why.
According to the latest COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboard, Burnaby Northwest and Southwest hold 0% positivity rates from June 22 to 28, 2021.
The data is released by the BC Centre for Disease Control.
Northeast and Southeast Burnaby are getting closer to the 0% mark, sitting at 1%.
Yesterday (June 29), Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, Premier John Horgan and Minister of Health Adrian Dix announced B.C. would officially be moving into phase 3 of the provincial restart plan on July 1.
British Columbia will largely lift restrictions on capacity and hours at restaurants and bars, marking a change in COVID-19 restrictions first put in place more than a year ago.
The wearing of face masks is also no longer mandatory.
More than 78 per cent of British Columbians have now been vaccinated at least once against COVID-19, according to the province.
During Step 3, businesses will gradually transition to new communicable disease plans, with guidelines for these plans released by WorkSafeBC on June 28, according to the B.C. government.
The fourth, and final, step in the province's reopening is slated to go into effect no earlier than September 7, 2021.
Burnaby's latest regional numbers for June 22 to 28 are as follows. Case rates are new cases per 100,000 people by local health area and community health service area.
