More than 45 high school and middle school teams will take part in the 2025 VEX Robotics Regional Championship competition at BCIT's Burnaby campus next month.
On March 1, the post-secondary school will host the competition designed to inspire and nurture passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The 2025 challenge will require teams to create robots that can race to pick up, move and score plastic rings onto mobile stake goals of different heights, including one tower that can only be reached by climbing a ladder.
"The VEX Robotics Competition provides a platform for students to develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and teamwork," a BCIT news release said.
"These skills will serve students in their post-secondary journey, in the workforce, and their personal lives."
BCIT mechanical engineering faculty Autumn Friesen and judges will announce the winning team that will advance to the VEX Robotics Competition World Championship in Dallas, Texas, in May.
The competition being held at BCIT will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
