Team JC holding holiday fundraiser in New Westminster
Team JC, a group that raises money for the B.C. Lung Association, is hosting a fundraiser at Schanks Sports Grill at 350 Gifford St. in New Westminster next Monday.
Friends and family of Burnaby resident Jeremy Chen formed Team JC after he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Chen's story was featured in the Burnaby NOW last June, after the previously healthy 30-year-old passed away from stage IV lung cancer.
Scarlett Chen, Jeremy's wife, said in an email that 100 per cent of the money raised at Monday's event would go to the association.
"We invite people to join us to watch the Canucks game on the big screen and enter to win fabulous door and raffle prizes," she wrote.
The fundraiser takes place from 6:30 to 11 p.m. on Dec. 19.
Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, are $15 and include a burger, fries and a beer.
The team is already fundraising for the association's Stairclimb for Clean Air fundraiser in February.
Last year, Team JC raised more than $60,000 for the event - the most ever donated in its 10-year history.
