Data released by TransLink shows Burnaby and New Westminster riders are some of the unhappiest in the Metro Vancouver region when it comes to service.
During a Jan. 30 Mayors' Council meeting, a TransLink customer service performance report, with roughly 750 respondents per quarter and 3,000 annually, showed when it comes to overall service, 47 per cent of Burnaby and New West riders polled were the least positive.
The most positive responses came from Richmond and South Delta riders at 75 per cent.
Forty-nine per cent of Burnaby and New West riders were also the least positive about value for money when it comes to transit.
West Vancouver folks were the most positive riders at 78 per cent.
Additionally, 42 per cent of Burnaby and New West riders were also the least positive when it comes to the adequacy of transit information at stops and stations.
Surrey, North Delta, White Rock and Langley riders were the most positive (70 per cent).
Regionally, 15 per cent more riders are using transit regularly compared to six months ago, TransLink said, which continues a declining trend since the end of 2022.
TransLink said the survey and project objectives were to evaluate the quality of service provided by bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain while diagnosing what aspects of service have the strongest impact on perceptions of service quality.
TransLink also hopes the data can help assess customer behaviours and motivation related to the use of public transit.
