Luca Cagnoni is catching the eyes of some of the NHL's top scouts and recruiters.
The Burnaby defenceman has been invited to the 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, a prestigious showcase featuring the top 40 players in Canadian major junior hockey.
The soon-to-be 18-year-old is currently projected as a second or third-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Cagnoni has appeared in 28 games for the Portland Winterhawks this season.
He is the top-scoring defenceman with the WHL franchise, scoring 9 goals and adding 17 assists for 26 points in the 2022-23 season to date.
His point total is tied for 11th among league defenceman while his 107 shots rank second among WHL blueliners.
Cagnoni will be one of seven players hitting the ice from B.C.
The 2023 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects game is scheduled for Jan. 25 at the Langley Events Centre.
