Two Burnaby businesses are grappling with fresh COVID-19 cases – with customers being warned to watch for symptoms.
In the Metrotown area, Wholesale Club, 5335 Kingsway, Burnaby has had a case discovered involving one of their staff members. The last day the team member worked was on March 23.
Fraser Health has also issued a warning about a COVID-19 exposure at a Burnaby beauty salon.
The health authority posted on its website a notification about First Hair and Beauty Studio, warning customers and staff who were at this location from March 23-25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The business is located at 7639 – Sixth St. in the Edmonds neighbourhood.
Anyone who was there on those dates is advised to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19, said Fraser Health.
The news comes as new COVID-19 cases in Burnaby fell during the last reporting period, but remain well above the 200-case mark for a fifth consecutive week, according to the latest data from the BC Centre for Disease Control.
In an update posted to the BCCDC website, Burnaby saw 210 new infections between March 14 and 20 – down from the 246 new coronavirus cases from March 7 to 13.
The Wholesale Club is owned by Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of retail chains Shoppers Drug Mart and Real Canadian Superstore, and provided other updates to its COVID-19 employee case listings on March 27, 28, and 29, indicating the following store and case information:
- Real Canadian Superstore, 8195 - 120th Street, North Delta: Multiple team members tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 14650 - 104th Avenue, Surrey: The last day the team member worked was on March 22.
- Real Canadian Superstore, 2332 160th Street, Surrey: The last day the team members worked was on March 21 and March 26.
- Shoppers Drug Mart, 432 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on March 24.
- Your Independent Grocer, 18765 Fraser Highway, Surrey: The last day the team member worked was on March 23.
Sobeys Inc, which operates stores like Safeway and Thrifty Foods, updated its B.C. coronavirus case tracker March 27 to indicate one new case of someone employee at a store in B.C. That new case is as follows:
- Thrifty Foods - 310 Edgemont Blvd. North Vancouver: Last day the store employee worked was March 26
