Burnaby businesses recognized for excellence, 'resilience and innovation'

Burnaby businesses were celebrated during the Burnaby Board of Trade's (BBOT) Burnaby Business Excellence Awards this week. 

The BBOT said close to 400 business, government and community leaders attended the 25th edition of the yearly event.

The awards recognized excellence across five key categories: corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability, workplace culture, innovation and entrepreneurship. 

Four top awards celebrated outstanding non-profit, businessperson, small business and large business of the year. 

“Burnaby’s business community exemplifies resilience and innovation. Our finalists and winners are setting benchmarks in their fields and impacting the community in countless ways,” Burnaby Board of Trade CEO Angie Whitfield said in a news release.

“This event is a celebration of the hard work, creativity, and commitment of Burnaby’s businesses and nonprofits, each of which has contributed to making our community stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable. Congratulations to this year’s honourees — your achievements are worth celebrating.”

The 2024 Burnaby Business Excellence Awards were as follows: 

  • Burnaby Community Spirit: Microserve
  • Business Innovation: Keystone Environmental
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Beta Collective
  • Environmental Sustainability: pH7 Technologies
  • Healthy, Diverse and Inclusive Workplace: Para Space Landscaping
  • Not-for-Profit Organization of the Year: Dixon Transition Society
  • Businessperson of the Year: Dr. Allen Eaves — STEMCELL Technologies
  • Business of the Year (up to 50 employees): Symbiosis Pediatric Therapy
  • Business of the Year: STEMCELL Technologies
