A $4.98 million road upgrade is coming to Still Creek Avenue in Burnaby after city council approved the project at Monday night's meeting.
Still Creek Avenue's (between Douglas Road and Westminster Avenue) rehabilitation will be complete with curbs, streetlights, sidewalk and urban trails.
The road extension will also improve the existing pavement and traffic flows for the nearby developments and provide access to the new works yard currently under construction, according to an engineering report.
Construction is scheduled for late April this year and is expected to be completed in early spring 2014.
Council previously approved $800,000 in funding for the water and sewer utility works before road construction.
The city approved using a capital reserves expenditure bylaw in the amount of $4.18 million to further finance the project.
"Sufficient capital reserves are available and these expenditures are included in the major roads component of the proposed 2013 to 2017 annual financial plan," the engineering report states.
