Be careful out there.

DriveBC's Kensington camera on Highway 1 shows traffic and snow building up in Burnaby at 6:48 a.m. this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 28), as Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver.

Drivers are warned to take care on their morning commute, as Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver — including Burnaby and New Westminster.

Environment Canada says this morning's snowfall will continue, with further snowfall amounts of five to 10 cm expected this morning and afternoon.

It warns that "rapidly accumulating snow" will impact the morning rush hour, causing difficult driving conditions and reduced visibility.

"This will have a significant impact on the morning commute due to rapidly accumulating snow and slippery road conditions," Environment Canada warns. "Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow."

As the area of low pressure continues to move across the south coast, snowfall accumulations will continue, easing off this afternoon.

The Weather Network says Burnaby should see a high of 4 C this afternoon, when continuing snow may turn to mixed precipitation.
