After winning the BCHL championship with the Surrey Eagles last season, Burnaby's Ryden Evers will look to help the team they beat in the finals face a similar fate.
The 19-year-old forward's playing rights were traded by the Eagles to the Sherwood Park Crusaders for future considerations before the Penticton Vees announced they were acquiring Evers on Aug. 4.
Evers recorded 22 goals and 33 assists for 53 points during the 2023-24 regular season and chipped in two goals and two assists for four points in 10 playoff games, helping the Eagles win its first BCHL Fred Page Cup championship since 2013, defeating his new team in six games during the final.
He was also named last season's recipient of the Bon Fenton Trophy which is awarded to the BCHL's most sportsmanlike player.

“Ryden brings size, skill, and championship experience. He was an integral part of Surrey stopping us two wins shy of winning three BCHL championships in a row," Penticton Vees President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson said in a news release.
“I look forward to working with Ryden and preparing him ready for the next level.”
Evers is also a commit to the University of Nebraska-Omaha men's hockey team.
Over the weekend, Ryden Evers was presented with the BCHL’s Bob Fenton Trophy as the most sportsmanlike player in the league.
