Burnaby's high school grads earned millions more in scholarships this year than any class for more than five years, according to the school district.
The Class of 2024 has earned a whopping $10.8 million and counting, the district said in a recent post on its website.
That's probably more than any grad class before them, but the district only started tracking the totals about five years ago.
"These awards, large and small, help students to achieve their post-secondary dreams," stated the district post.
Major awards secured by local grads include a full scholarship to Harvard University, valued at more than $400,000, won by Burnaby Central Secondary grad Ella Ricketts, who plans to study public policy and government in pursuit of a career in political analytics and law.
Burnaby North grad Charis Chang was awarded a $120,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship and will study engineering at Queens University.
