Burnaby home destroyed in early morning fire

An early morning blaze has gutted a home in Burnaby. The fire was started at about 5 a.m. Monday in a home under construction in the 6600-block of Elwell Street in the Edmonds neighbourhood.

An early morning blaze has gutted a home in Burnaby.

The fire was started at about 5 a.m. Monday in a home under construction in the 6600-block of Elwell Street in the Edmonds neighbourhood.

Several hours later, firefighters continued to work at keeping the blaze contained.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire and other homes in the area are not believed to have been damaged.

The fire department has not yet commented on what might have caused the blaze.
