Bosa Properties has announced that it is offering free rooms to Fraser Health workers at its Element Vancouver Metrotown hotel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 169-room hotel will be opening its doors to Fraser Health’s staff, who “may need a place to self-quarantine, rest or live away from their families while navigating this pandemic.”
Fraser Health operates Burnaby Hospital and covers from Burnaby to White Rock to Hope, with more than 24,000 staff across 12 acute care hospitals.
Bosa said in a statement that it will be covering all room, taxes and parking charges for Fraser Health employees, “who are currently working diligently on the front-line in support of our community as a whole.
“Through this crisis, we’re learning that it is more important than ever to come together as a community, to step up and find ways to support each other. For some, home has been a mainstay of our lives during this time of social distancing, self-isolation and quarantine. For our front-line workers, in order to keep their own homes healthy, that often means staying away. Our doors will remain open, as a temporary home, until it’s safe for them to return to their own.”
Glowbal Restaurant Group will also be extending local love to Burnaby's health-care employees by providing those staying at the hotel with a complimentary meal from Trattoria Italian Kitchen Burnaby during their stay. Trattoria is located on the lower level of the same 45-storey building as the hotel and is currently offering a limited take-out menu of rustic pasta dishes, oven-fired thin-crust pizza and fresh seasonal salads.
"As a company, we're doing everything we can to support the brave healthcare professionals who are battling the Coronavirus pandemic on the frontlines," says CEO of Glowbal Restaurant Group Emad Yacoub. "Providing complimentary meals to the hospital employees who are staying at the Element Vancouver Metrotown is our way of thanking them for their dedication and rewarding their efforts with some much-needed Italian comfort food."
Bosa Properties will be supporting the community initiative by helping to sponsor meals for health-care workers while also covering the full cost of all room fees, taxes and on-site parking for hospital staff staying at the hotel. Healthcare professionals can book accommodations to self-isolate at the Element Vancouver Metrotown free of charge for up to 14 nights.
To protect the health and safety of the hotel’s guests and employees, heightened sanitation practices have been implemented to decrease exposure, the company said.
All front-line workers with the Fraser Health Authority are directed to contact the Element Vancouver Metrotown hotel at [email protected], or 604-568-3696 for more information and to book available rooms.
