A 46-year-old Burnaby man faces mischief charges for allegedly setting off fire sprinklers in a Brentwood apartment building this week.
Police and firefighters were called to an apartment building in the 2300 block of Madison Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to an emailed Burnaby RCMP statement.
"It was reported that a male suspect was allegedly deliberately activating sprinkler heads in the building, which was causing flooding on multiple floors," Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in the email.
Police began clearing the building, according to Kalanj.
The suspect was then located inside and arrested at about 7:50 p.m., he said.

Occupants have returned to their homes, according to Kalanj, and damage to the building appears to be mostly confined to concrete stairwells and common area hallways.
Residents of the building who commented on Reddit said they had seen a man tampering with pipes in a stairwell.
The investigation is ongoing.
