A Burnaby woman who was hit by an SUV while crossing Grange Street in July is going to be OK, police say.
As previously reported by the NOW, the 46-year-old mother and her 9-year-old son were walking in a crosswalk at Grange and Patterson streets around 4:30 p.m. on July 20 when they were hit by an SUV and thrown several feet.
The driver, a 57-year-old man from Vancouver, was headed westbound when he allegedly struck the two, causing serious injuries to the woman's head, spine, pelvis, and organs, including her spleen and kidneys.
She is now expected to make a full recovery but Cpl. Dave Reid of the Burnaby RCMP couldn't say whether she had been released from hospital.
As for the driver of the SUV, the RCMP requested a charge of dangerous driving.
"But we haven't heard back from the Crown yet as to whether or not they will proceed with that charge," Reid said.
Police will provide no further comments while the Crown decides whether or not to charge the driver, he added.
