Burnaby music donations overwhelm punk rock councillor

The response from Burnaby residents has been music to Joe Keithley’s ears. The Burnaby councillor and founder of punk band D.O.A. asked the community to donate musical instruments for his program Harmony for All.

The Burnaby councillor and founder of punk band D.O.A. asked the community to donate musical instruments for his program Harmony for All.

Last Saturday, Keithley, Mayor Mike Hurley and Burnaby firefighters gathered at the farmers market to accept those donations and they were overwhelmed at the response.

“I was expecting about 50 donations and we're now approaching 250,” Keithley said.

Each person who donated received a tax receipt.

Keithley is working to share the benefits of music with Burnaby children who want to play music but cannot afford instruments or lessons.
